Hey everyone!
I’ve been a little off the radar on my site because we’ve been hard at work finishing my upcoming album “Steps” at PREP Sound this year. I’m so thrilled to announce that the release show for the album will be on July 30th at 8pm at Gold Sounds in Brooklyn, NY! I’ll be posting more about that soon, including a few more acts and some guests joining my band for our set.
It’s been a very rewarding process to be able to witness these songs come together in their final forms, both through finalizing arrangements in the studio and during the rehearsal process with the band. I’ve been living with some of these 14 songs on “Steps” for as long as 4 years now, as I wrote the first ones just after graduating from Ithaca College in 2013, so it definitely feels like a new kind of milestone to be able to share an hour long, fully polished work I can be proud of with the world! I hope that other people can hear their own stories in some of the lyrics, no matter what your own journey looks like.
We’ll have some hard copies of the album at the release party, as well as download cards and some other merch, but you’ll be able to find “Steps” online at all your regular streaming sites! And make sure you check out the work of the amazing artist who created my album cover, Meehaun Glasper-Wade!

- The LEIMAY Block Party in Brooklyn is tomorrow on Grand Street between Wythe and Kent!
- June 26th at 8pm I’m performing in Washington D.C. as part of La Ti Do Celebrates Trans Artists, curated by my good friend Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi! She is an amazing writer, singer, actress, dancer, to name a few, so please check out her work and her Patreon!
- June 30th I’m releasing the music video for the title track off “Steps” which was filmed and edited by Laura Kyzrston! I’ll be posting a trailer for that on my instagram, but here’s a promo shot for the time being…
