About

Will Shishmanian (also known as Will Shish) is a singer/songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and trans man living in Queens, NY. He graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelors in Music Composition where he wrote the music and lyrics for his first musical Addy & Dahlia: A Fairytale Musical (originally called Lesbian Fairytale Musical), grew his songwriting and concert work portfolios, scored student films, and found the vital support from the local LGBTQ community to come out and begin to transition. After graduating, he moved to NYC to pursue a career as a songwriter and musician.

As a transgender artist, Shishmanian has gone through many name changes over the course of his life, independently releasing 3 albums from 2006-2010 under his birth name and 2 EPs under the name Will Shishmanian before his singing voice dropped after hormone therapy. He released his album Steps in 2017 under the artist name Will Shish, to create a different artist name for his solo work from his musical theater work. Steps is a 14-song, multi-genre album with lyrical content relating to transitioning, friendship, love, and loss.

Shishmanian also produces music for other artists of varying genres, and plays guitar, bass, and keys as a session and live musician. He is the Head of Music Production for the Queens-based recording and production company, PREP Sound.
