Will Shish is a singer/songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and trans man living in Queens, NY. He graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelors in Music Composition where he wrote and premiered his first musical “Lesbian Fairytale Musical” (book by Calvin Kasulke), grew his songwriting and concert work portfolios, scored student films, and found the vital support from the local LGBTQ community to come out and begin to transition. After graduating, he moved to NYC to pursue a career as a songwriter and musician. His 2017 album “Steps” covers genres from alt rock, prog, R&B, and funk rock, and deals with lyrical content relating to his transition, friendship, love, and loss.
As a transgender artist, Shish has gone through many name changes over the course of his life, independently releasing 3 albums from 2006-2010 under his birth name and 2 EPs under the name Will Shishmanian before his singing voice dropped after hormone therapy. Shish also wrote the music and lyrics for the original musical “Lesbian Fairytale Musical” which premiered in 2012 at Ithaca College, and is in the beginning stages of being promoted nationwide to high schools, colleges, and LGBTQ youth groups nationwide!
He also produces music for other artists of varying genres, and plays guitar, bass, and keys as a session musician. He is the Head of Music Production for the Queens-based recording and production company, PREP Sound.
